About
What is Cialis, and what are the primary uses of it?
Cialis is a brand name version for tadalafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, pulmonary artery hypertension, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is an oral medication with the onset of action within half an hour and the duration of effects up to 36 hours following the dose. The United States government approved Cialis for medical use in the year 2003. This medication is available as a generic and brand version medication. It is one of the most prescribed medicines of its kind in the United States, with above 1 million prescriptions every year.
What are the uses of Cialis?
Cialis helps treat erectile dysfunction (ED), pulmonary artery hypertension, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). FDA approved Cialis for erectile dysfunction as once a day medication available in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10mg, and 20 mg strengths of tadalafil.
The research found out that Cialis 5 mg once a day is an effective treatment for urinary tract symptoms caused due to prostatic hyperplasia and that treatment also has a low risk of adverse effects. The FDA approved Cialis 10 mg once daily for the treatment and prevention of benign prostatic hypertrophy symptoms such as urinary hesitancy, urgency, dribbling, weak stream, and incontinence.
Most times, the doctors recommend Cialis 40 mg as a once-daily treatment to improve exercise ability in pulmonary arterial hypertension patients. In patients with PAH, the pulmonary vascular lumen gets reduced due to vasoconstriction and vascular remodeling, resulting in higher pulmonary artery pressure and vascular resistance. Cialis causes pulmonary artery vasodilation and inhibits regeneration (vascular), lowering pulmonary arterial resistance and strength. Heart failure of the right side is the most severe consequence of pulmonary artery hypertension.
